 Roxanne St. Claire is launching a brand new trilogy, The Billionaires of Barefoot Bay, as a spinoff to her highly popular Barefoot Bay series. We are thrilled that Roxanne has taken the time to stop by and answer a few of our questions about her fantastic new series!

1.   Your Barefoot Bay books are wonderful! Could you tell us what inspired you to write these books?

Thank you! I’m so happy the books are resonating with readers. I guess living in Florida inspired me -- life in the tropics has its own special rhythm and romance. There are still a lot of idyllic, undiscovered gems in the tiny islands up and down the Gulf Coast and I thought it would be a perfect setting for a series. Also, I wanted to write fantasy romances that were grounded in reality -- the heroines in the books are all dealing with issues that we women face every day, and they find their support in friendship and, of course, with amazing heroes.

2.   I understand you've written a new series of novellas based on your Barefoot Bay series. Could you tell us a little about your new Billionaires of Barefoot Bay series?

Yes! Many of my readers fell in love with the stories of Barefoot Bay in the first four books of the series, when four lifelong friends joined forces to build a small but upscale resort called Casa Blanca. The resort is up and running and filled with new characters who find love on the white sands of Barefoot Bay, starting with a trio of sexy, flirtatious, irresistible billionaires and the unlikely heroines who steal their hearts. Each story stands alone, but there is a thin thread of connection (the billionaires are going to start a minor league baseball team on Barefoot Bay...hello, new heroes!) and all three are “feel-good” romances with very happy endings.

3.   The new Billionaires of Barefoot Bay series will be in digital format, and each novella will be about 40,000 words. Do you think shorter digital works will become a new trend in romance novel publishing?

I think readers like a variety and there’s plenty of demand for the longer 85,000-ish word novel as well as something that can be gobbled up in a night or two. There’s less of an investment of time with a novella, but, if the author does her job, there’s still a tremendous amount of satisfaction for the reader. I really enjoyed packing a lot of story into those pages and I hope readers come away loving the new characters and hungry for more!

4.   And finally, inquiring minds want to know--do you have additional new books on the horizon; perhaps for this summer or next fall?

Yes, I do! After the three novellas (released in December, January, and February) I’ll be working on a trilogy of novels, called The Barefoot Brides. This is about three wedding consultants who set up shop at the Barefoot Bay resort to coordinate destination weddings. They’ve made a pact never to get married...but we already know how that will go down, don’t we? The books will be out in summer and fall, 2014...stay tuned for titles and covers!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Secrets on the Sand. It was like a delicious chocolate that I could savor and finish in one sitting. I haven’t read many novellas, but discovered that Secrets on the Sand was the perfect length for my busy schedule; it was short enough to finish in one day, and yet long enough that I came to know and care very much about the characters.

I rooted for Mandy to overcome her obstacles, and found sweet satisfaction when Tori got her just desserts. Zeke was a major hunk, and sweet, too. I just loved him. The sizzling attraction between “Ezekiel the Geekiel” and “Mandy the Magnificent” was superbly written. I loved their romance, and I am looking forward to reading the next novellas in the Billionaires of Barefoot Bay series!
